Some physical health stuff showed up yesterday after I did a thing. I was then concerned with potential for death, but that didn't end up happening (and the problem was major anyways).

I was also thinking yesterday about how everyone else is supposed to know that I'm dead. The answer is: not with full confidence, but checking my accounts for any activities.

So, under these conditions:

All of my accounts are properly secured with a random password

My password vault is properly secured with a long random password

The service isn't compromised

I've setup everything correctly

Then in theory, no one outside of should be able to even login to my account in the first place, and my accounts represents me.

Now with those conditions in mind, where should you be looking at?

I have a page of accounts. There's a few guidelines I'll provide:

1. Anything below "ArchiveTeam trackers" is not reliable, including the "ArchiveTeam trackers" entry. Either the accounts have (from top to bottom) no authentication, has been deleted, don't provide last activity information, or is left unused.

2. GitHub, GitLab, and Codeberg is not my primary forge platform. SourceHut is, and that should be checked first before moving onto others. Check all services, and take builds.sr.ht with a grain of salt if the build trigger was a patch set.

3. IRC would require both me and you to be online at the same time for you to see that I'm online. Querying staff may be required if you can't find me or /whois me.

4. The IRC networks likely have a nickname expiry system on their network, so if my inactivity has started long ago, IRC networks may not be reliable. Check other accounts too in case of doubt.

After checking everything and seeing that there has been no recent activity of any kind, and there is a consistent cut off point between accounts, one thing you may try is contacting me.

If I don't respond for days and I'm not active anywhere, then it means at minimum, I have not touched a computer. That is an extremely rare thing to happen, but it could mean these things:

I was forced away from my computers (potentially jail, military or something else)

ALL of my computers was taken from me (stolen, seized, lost, etc.)

I stopped touching computers

I stopped touching the internet

I can't touch my existing accounts because I lost all the passwords (could tie into computer taken away)

So, to reiterate how to check:

Check my accounts' activities (except for unreliable ones)

Which isn't a lot of ways to check actually.

With those checks though, the best anyone can tell is that I've been unable to touch a computer, which could have many causes for that to happen.

I didn't include contacting some relative or someone who knows me, because most people online don't actually know me in real life, even if we've been interacting for a while. I've mostly kept my online self away from others, and that's the current situation. Plus I don't know much people who speak English in this country that I'm in.

Basically, it's quite complicated, and you won't be able to tell a lot.
