And I’m not into it.

I just don’t like making silo accounts all over the place.

I’ve had a few Reddit accounts, and accounts on Discourse or Vanilla sites like Story-Games, and the big bad evil elephant in the room called BoardGameGeek, but I’m not happy about it.

Antenna is also centralized, but since it could easily be changed to a decentralized system if Gemini space ever becomes too big, I was like “enh, it’s fine”. I follow a couple of other aggregators as well.

Looks like people are also using the BBS to make gemlogs (for example for Antenna).

That, I 100% support. It’s great that there are hosting sites for gemlogs & capsules.

Update again: On second thought, these compatibility features exacerbate how problematic the BBS is. It’s embrace & extend with “got to log in”–style conversational features.

Someone I don’t get along with very well wrote:

“The people who”… probably better known as me. Pretty messed up, referring to having a gemlog as “gobbling up attention on the aggregators”.

That was the one thing I wrote was a good thing.🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve asked for years and years for lower friction content hosting and I’ve promoted and recommended some of the sites that do provide hosting, like flounder.

That has nothing at all to do with what I see is the big problem with Facebook and sites like it.

Federation & source code

Bubble might get federation.

The source code has also been released under BSD-2.

So my criticism isn’t meant as a damnation for all time. There is some hope for this project to end up being a good thing. But that’s then. This is now. For now, I’ve blocked it!

You guys can easily comment on our posts but the opposite isn’t as easy, is the situation. It’s just yet another reason why people should get an account on the big Bubble instance. But OK. It’s better than nothing 💁🏻‍♀️ Because then we could update our own posts or make new posts if we wanted to reply back.
