It’s been late-stage capitalism for a while now

We’ve been in late-stage capitalism for over a hundred years. It started with the first World War. The first time I heard the term, I thought “dare we hope?”

I thought “late” meant “over soon”, like “late night” means “soon morning”. But it just keeps getting later and grimmer.
