The Day The Vriscourse Died

Back...

If you were around during the peak of the fandom, do you remember "the dreaded" v r i s c o u r s e? Y'know, a bunch of heated debates around Vriska and if she was good/bad/morally grey/justified/etc.

Seems like it was a pretty big deal, with how it had its own damn name and all that.

Thing is, I've barely ever seen any real vriscourse-level vriscourse take place. I think it's probably because I tend to avoid the fandom drama arena, but I discovered the stalkers mentioned in [a post I never uploaded] completely naturally, and most fans have never heard of them.

So, why was it such a big deal that it had its own name? Beats me, I was never there to witness its peak.

And its disappearance is also kind of strange. I believe that it went around the same time as the epilogues started. Following this, I think that the bullshit surrounding the epilogues and how they were recieved mostly took over the limelight.

And there's a secret sauce to this--! Turns out that if enough fans can just ignore something, and get loud about something else (ideally, not drama), it goes away.

So that's your lesson here. if(drama sucks){ ignore drama; }. If enough people do this, it goes away by itself.

Taking the correct side? BAD! That is contributing to the drama.

Complaining about the drama itself? BAD! Talking about the drama is contributing to the drama. (sure is sneaky, huh?)

A longer post is in the works, I promise...
