WGA negotiates deal with studios after 5 month strike

Just the facts

The Writer's Guild of America has reached a "tentative" agreement to bring an end to the strike that has been going on for nearly five entire months.

The deal has to be approved by the union's board and members before the strike comes to an official end, expected to happen later this week.

Though the strike is technically still going on, picketing has been brought to a stop pending approval of the deal.

President Joe Biden called the agreement a "testament to the power of collective bargaining", suggesting executive official support for organized labor.

Though the WGA may be ending their strike soon, the Screen Actors' Guild (SGA), which has been on strike since July, has not reached a deal and will contiue to strike.
