My backup server from 2010 died so I had to buy a new one.

I want to use this machine as a backup server and a server for my private services. I have 3 disk of 4TB in a raidz ZFS pool, 8TB is available and one disk can fail and I have an M2 SSD for the server part of the machine.

I choose the mini-ITX format because the Intel NUC size computer have laptop component which are not reliable under heavy load and it is smaller than ATX desktop computer.

Here is the components:

Intel Core i7-10700F Processor (16M cache, 2.9Ghz up to 4.8Ghz) 8 cores/16 hw threads 14nm

Intel Specification

ASUS ROG Strix B460-I Gaming motherboard Max 64GB RAM

Asus Specification

Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB RAM (2x16GB, DDR4)

Fractal Design Node 304 box

Specification

Corsair RM650 650W power supply

4x Seagate Barracuda 4TB 2.5inch 5400rpm 128Mb SATA disks

500GB M2 nvme Samsung SSD

I use only 3 Seagate disks so I have a spare in case one disk fails.

I also connected to it the external disks (1.5TB and 2TB Western Digital) from my previous backup server.

I installed Debian Bullseye with ZFS on root and I expect this setup to be stable.

If a disk fails, I replace the non working disk with the spare disk.

If the power supply fails, I replace it with a new one

If the motherboard fails, I put the disks in another computer

If the computer fails and the disks also fail, only backup data is lost
