Sorting the books

On the book shelve all kinds of material is collecting dust. Among the authors like Muriel Romana, Erich Fromm, Omar Nasiri, Pirkko-Liisa Surojegin, Evald Flisar and Bill Watterson is also The book of the capitalist Steve Jobs. The silver 15" laptop is standing out:

Cleaning the dust of i open the book. It has a bump on the side. The body of the laptop and the screen are bent in. I am getting more and more interested if i can start it up. This tool was made 20 years ago. I start looking for the power-cord, but then because of not being patient i just press the power button. And the machine boots up! The battery is still in tact. And the Mac OS X Version 10.3.7 opens up. Cool. All nice and clean. Lets see if i can post something... And then the problem. I can not connect to sites which have the https:// secure connection. http:// works fine and waw the Internet Explorer is capable to show gopher:// sites. I finally find the web-browser suitable for surfing the clear web of today. Its the iCab. But then another problem the battery is drained and the laptops shuts off. I have to find the power cord.

Downgrading is the new upgrading

If constant upgrading and buying new tools (to be safe and secure) is the game of the new era, then for me, the only way to play along is - downgrading. I make a deep-dive into the web in search for some directions...
