So I was all excited about our booster appointment and I kept saying BOOST BOOST BOOST BOOST at spouse (like UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ at a club). Then we found out spouse forgot to bring his vax card from hogwarts, so we had to cancel our matrix tickets (theater was prob full of covid anyway) and go on an impromptu road trip to fetch it. This is fine, we get to howl terrible country song lyrics at each other and make fun of other drivers and chat about whatever. Traffic was really bad, we just barely got back in time for our booster appointment. As we got back to town there was a long line of cars almost completely jamming the highway offramp. We were able to get through but it was really strange. Was there an accident? On the way back from the appointment, we realized that it was the line for the covid testing place, extending out of the parking lot, down the road for a half mile in the far right lane, and now completely blocking the offramp (which was also backed up past the loop and probably back to the highway). They had cops to direct traffic at the intersection to the parking lot because it was a mess, but I don't think anyone figured out it was blocking the offramp. Crazypants.

So 12 hours after the shot I felt miserable. Feels like someone took a rolling pin to the major joints in my body. Horrible body aches. Worse than I've felt with the previous shots. Some sniffles and maybe some fever chills, but mostly body aches. Spouse is feeling it too but not as bad. I felt so wretched, I could barely get myself to the bathroom. In the morning I order spouse to go get me some dayquil, and he leans in, and he says "BOOST BOOST BOOST BOOST." Oh fuck you asshole. But he fetches the dayquil and that helps a lot. I had some milder body aches again last night but I seem to be feeling normal now, or maybe that's the dayquil. Anyway, if that's a taste of what covid feels like I most definitely do not want it.

Yesterday we watched the LOTR movies and today we're doing a Star Wars marathon. Spouse is intent on repeating all of Jar-jar's lines in a thick country yokel accent, just to see me make disgusted faces.

I made the turkey and soup last night. The soup is not exactly as I remember it. I think the ingredients are right but the proportions are wrong. The recipe called for 10 cups of water and I only put in 8 and it was way too watery. I think maybe 4 cups of water, max, and a second can of tomatoes. It's still good soup but it's not *perfect*, so I will have to tune it up. But grilled cheese & soup makes a fine holiday meal and nobody can convince me otherwise.

So all is well. Cats are happy. Quiet holiday.
