00:00 DaemonFC; The big wigs push all the liability down to branch tellers and loan officers who commit the actual fraud and then when the government comes in they can say "We never told them to do anything illegal."
00:01 DaemonFC; No, you just implied look for another job, and oh, you have a mortgage, two cars, and a wife and kids? Well, hope you find another job that pays what this one does.
00:01 DaemonFC; So these people are like all people. They start doing whatever they have to do to go home and not break the bad news to the family and then go upstairs and shoot themselves.
00:03 DaemonFC; schestowitz New Landlord seems to be knocking out windows and putting in brand new air conditioners and then boarding up the hole where the old one went.
00:03 DaemonFC; We might ask if we can just move across the hall when he's done with that unit and everything will be new.
00:03 DaemonFC; It'd be the easiest move I've ever made. Grab stuff. Put it in the next room over.
00:04 schestowitz; hmmm
00:04 schestowitz; with global warming and rules, this might be just hi seeking compliance
00:04 schestowitz; and ticking all the boxes
00:04 schestowitz; so he can put tenants in
00:05 schestowitz; it looks like this "bargain" is already costing him a lot
00:05 schestowitz; it is, to him, what the old buick was to you
00:15 DaemonFC; Yeah, Mark sez "Oh I haven't had to buy an air conditioner in years." Mark thinkz "Yeah, I just let half of them break and Ryan and Mandy were lucky enough to get one that's just loud. Oh my God this guy is a wet dream. He didn't even pay $5,000 for a real inspection but he has $2.3 million just for me. I can pay off all my debts and laugh while swimming in money. Reminder: Change phone...
00:15 DaemonFC; ...number after sale."
00:16 schestowitz; not swimming in money
00:16 schestowitz; he pays back SOME of the debt
00:16 schestowitz; probably has more debt left
00:17 DaemonFC; If it was going to be so easy to jack up the rent and kick his feet back, Mark would have just done that years ago.
00:17 schestowitz; "has $2 million in debt, have $2.4+ in estate" does not mean financial issues
00:17 schestowitz; as you neighbour put it
00:17 DaemonFC; He probably didn't really want rid of this place.
00:18 DaemonFC; He probably racked up so much debt all over that it was the only choise.
00:18 DaemonFC; *choice
00:18 DaemonFC; I looked at his other buildings.
00:18 DaemonFC; No for sale listings on them, BUT....
00:18 DaemonFC; According to property value trends, they're worth less than he paid for them in 2006.
00:19 DaemonFC; He paid $406,000 for the one down the corner in 2006 and it could sell for $168,000 now.
00:19 DaemonFC; According to Redfin, and Zillow and the rest aren't much different.
00:19 DaemonFC; So he didn't sell those because he's underwater and he'd lose money on the sale, but he owns the title can can just keep renting them out.

00:20 DaemonFC; This is the only building that he could easily sell and realize a profit.
00:20 DaemonFC; So what he did was make a tactical move. He found a buyer who was willing to overpay, a lot.
00:20 DaemonFC; And rolled with it.
00:20 DaemonFC; And then he didn't have to sustain a book loss.

00:25 DaemonFC; schestowitz I laughed. Walmart is apparently doing induction and fuel system cleaning service now.
00:25 DaemonFC; $20.
00:25 DaemonFC; They have an oil flush kit too. $10 on top of an oil change.
00:25 DaemonFC; I don't know about it. Valvoline makes the flush solution.
00:26 DaemonFC; It's one of those pour it in and start the engine and let it gargle the stuff for 10 minutes. Then change the filter and oil.
00:26 DaemonFC; I doubt Valvoline would risk ruining their reputation making something that destroys engines.
00:27 DaemonFC; There's sludge flush products that are too harsh and flush ALL the gunk out at once and even eat up seals and gaskets.
00:27 DaemonFC; There's ones that just clean a little gunk and you should run them through every now and then.
00:27 DaemonFC; Since it's impossible to tell the customer which is which, OEMs usually just say don't ever do an engine flush.
00:28 DaemonFC; When half of them are so bad they'll ruin engines and the other half are fine you don't want to tell the customer that it's fine to do them.
00:28 DaemonFC; It's the same with fuel additives.
00:28 DaemonFC; GM says don't use anything except what they sell you, but the truth is there's plenty of good ones, and there's plenty of bad ones.
00:28 DaemonFC; There's also ones that just don't work.
00:29 DaemonFC; Techron is perfectly safe to use in just about any gas engine.
00:29 DaemonFC; It's the same detergent they use in Chevron or Texaco gasoline, it's just a bigger dose.
00:30 DaemonFC; The problem with Techron is that people wait until they're having such a bad problem out of their engine from shitty fuel that the stuff in a bottle doesn't do anything anymore.
00:31 DaemonFC; The Techron is a good "Every few thousand miles." thing if you start with an engine that's already clean.
00:31 DaemonFC; I had to break down and get an induction and injector service at a shop before my fuel problems went away in the Buick.
00:31 DaemonFC; That old lady carboned the engine up pretty bad.
00:32 DaemonFC; schestowitz Yes, the New Landlord bought a 1971 building.
00:32 DaemonFC; I mean, he thought there were going to be no problems after half a century of landlords going "You know what? I don't want to do more than mow the lawn and replace the water heater when it completely shits itself."?
00:33 *eidolon has quit (Quit: )
00:33 DaemonFC; The mentality of a landlord is let the building fall apart while they extract as much rent as possible, then sell it to the next guy.
00:34 DaemonFC; That's why there should be laws to encourage units that are owned by the people that live in them.
00:34 DaemonFC; Landlords create urban decay.

01:09 DaemonFC; Certainly the people going in to Walmart and asking for the cheapest oil change aren't as meticulous as I am.
01:10 DaemonFC; schestowitz Today there was a Japanese guy that went in there and asked for an oil change. The service manager told him it would be a couple hours because they were running behind today. The guy said that was fine. Comes back 15 minutes later and wonders why they're not done and asks for his keys back.
01:10 DaemonFC; The most popular thing to do at Walmart is anticipate the wait. The whole thing is designed to get people into the store. The oil changes aren't a major profit center.
01:11 DaemonFC; So a lot of people drop their car off at Walmart and find something else to do. Like go there on Sunday and then have a friend take them to church and go eat out and come back for the car later.

01:28 DaemonFC; Do you think they should be eligible for SECURE BOOT?
01:28 DaemonFC; As part of the TRUSTED CHAIN?
01:30 MinceR; why would his opinion on those be different from being locked into booting one of the least secure PC OS-es available today?
01:30 MinceR; it's "secure" because you don't get to control what your own property does.
01:30 DaemonFC; "Still, there are exceptions most notably, one for drivers signed with certificates that expired or were issued prior to July 29, 2015. If a newly compiled driver is signed with non-revoked certificates that were issued before that date, it won't be blocked. "As a result, multiple open source tools have been developed to exploit this loophole," Neal wrote. And while Sophos reported that it...
01:30 DaemonFC; ...had uncovered more than 100 malicious drivers, Neal said Cisco Talos "has observed multiple threat actors taking advantage of the aforementioned Windows policy loophole to deploy thousands of malicious, signed drivers without submitting them to Microsoft for verification...."

01:37 DaemonFC; It's not clear whether the stolen Imperial shuttle itself was part of Palpatine's plan to draw the Rebel Alliance into the trap. He may have simply leaked out a bunch of bad information knowing they'd devise a way to get in.
01:37 DaemonFC; Depends on whether Palpy is a micromanager.
01:37 DaemonFC; Nobody likes a micromanager.
01:38 DaemonFC; Given Vader being genuinely curious about the shuttle, it's likely Palpy didn't plan on this in particular. He would have probably informed Vader.
01:39 DaemonFC; You hold back information from people you think could damage you with it somehow.
01:39 DaemonFC; Palpy keep Vader pretty much fully informed about everything because he overestimated (as it turns out) his ability to control him.

07:50 DaemonFC; I go to one of the more expensive stations in town.
07:50 DaemonFC; They're on the rebate app I use and the difference all comes right back to me anyway, but my credit card points are based on a multiple of the total spend.
07:50 DaemonFC; So if I spend the higher amount top of the line, I get more credit card points, then I get the rebate.
07:51 DaemonFC; Basically a lot of my spending goes in order of how to generate these points. I mean. If it's a necessary and proper expenditure that you can't get out of you might as well pocket a few cents on the dollar here and t here.
07:51 DaemonFC; So, you know, Mandy wonders why I do things that don't make sense.
07:52 DaemonFC; Like sometimes I'll turn left when I know the place I need to get to is to the right.
07:52 DaemonFC; And we'll have a big argument about it. Instead of just trusting that there must be a reason and I just haven't explained it, he jumps down my throat assuming I'm an idiot that just turned the car left for no reason whatsoever.
07:53 DaemonFC; I mean, maybe there's a bad intersection down there to the right and I don't want to get into an accident or wait forever for the oncoming traffic to clear.
07:53 DaemonFC; But he never stops to think that maybe I just know what I'm trying to do and get off my case about it.
07:58 DaemonFC; So whenever I do something that he assumes is wrong I'm already waiting for "STUPID!! I TOLD YOU TO TURN RIGHT!!! WHY ARE WE GOING THIS WAY? DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?"

08:02 DaemonFC; In her world, there is only one right way to do things, and that's the way she's decided is right.
08:03 DaemonFC; If anyone goes against what she feels to be true, then she explodes because of this combination of inability to see things from some other perspective and her own vanity.
08:04 DaemonFC; To a certain extent, rigidity is normal. Everyone has some. A reluctance to do things in a way other than what has worked for them.
08:04 DaemonFC; I think a lot of it is due to intense psychological trauma in childhood.

08:08 DaemonFC; They'll try to "achieve" things MARISOL wants, even into adulthood, trying to please an "evil God" that will never be happy.
08:08 DaemonFC; Because somewhere that's how they see her.
08:08 DaemonFC; Many people do this.
08:08 schestowitz; it won't work
08:08 schestowitz; they turn 12
08:08 schestowitz; they rebel
08:09 schestowitz; and they do whatever the f* they want
08:09 schestowitz; "i hate you, mom!"
08:09 schestowitz; you cannot dictate to the kids what they become
08:09 DaemonFC; Yeah, they call her fucking bitch right to her face.
08:09 schestowitz; you can to a small child
08:09 schestowitz; then they grow up
08:09 DaemonFC; They were doing that 4 years ago when they were 14.
08:09 schestowitz; and their friends and schools change them
08:09 DaemonFC; Well, her son was.
08:09 schestowitz; sometimes gangs too
08:09 schestowitz; you cannot closely guard them 24/7
08:09 DaemonFC; Yes, experiment that blows up.
08:09 schestowitz; the state makes it illegal
08:09 schestowitz; so they wrest control
08:09 DaemonFC; We already know she was trying to get pregnant again.
08:10 DaemonFC; It didn't work out.
08:10 DaemonFC; She told Mandy she miscarried. Who knows what the truth was.
08:10 DaemonFC; It is Illinois.
08:10 DaemonFC; Maybe her and Mark went over the credit cards and decided that they couldn't afford it and went off to the Democrat Death Factory.
08:11 DaemonFC; Very quietly.
08:11 DaemonFC; Then to church on Sunday with a sad story
08:11 DaemonFC; Miscarried.
08:11 schestowitz; btw, what i said abovge is universal
08:11 schestowitz; across cultures
08:12 schestowitz; eventually the state takes control of the "plebs"
08:12 schestowitz; no matter what you do
08:12 schestowitz; raise them in a cave? they will arrest you
08:12 schestowitz; the trouyble is,
08:12 schestowitz; like with copaganda,
08:12 schestowitz; many people find out too late\
08:12 schestowitz; the hard way
08:12 DaemonFC; schestowitz STATE OF ILL has an app for kids to report things to the government.
08:12 schestowitz; after they already had kids
08:12 DaemonFC; All sorts of things.
08:12 schestowitz; not heeding the warninf of the elders
08:12 DaemonFC; Including their parents!
08:12 DaemonFC; :D
08:12 schestowitz; who might be honest
08:12 schestowitz; so you cannot undo it
08:13 schestowitz; when I was young I thought in terms like the the Me Me the Third BS
08:13 schestowitz; The Second, the Third
08:13 schestowitz; it seldom works
08:13 schestowitz; the kids don't do what the parents tell them
08:13 DaemonFC; schestowitz In the 90s there was no app to just narc on people to the state via an iPhone.
08:13 schestowitz; some parents decide for their kids what to study in college
08:13 schestowitz; then the kids graduate and do something else completely
08:13 schestowitz; veyr common
08:14 schestowitz; because they were herded into studying something they did not fancy
08:14 schestowitz; you can lead a horse to water
08:14 DaemonFC; schestowitz According to GULAG PLAY almost nobody in the entire state has downloaded this app.
08:14 schestowitz; you know the rest
08:14 DaemonFC; Despite the TV commercials and everything.
08:14 DaemonFC; They spent millions of dollars so that 47 people in a state of 13 million could download the narc on everyone app.
08:14 DaemonFC; Worth every penny.
08:15 schestowitz; yes, you covered it
08:15 schestowitz; spectacular failure
08:15 schestowitz; how many of those 47 are beta testers?
08:15 DaemonFC; LOL
08:15 schestowitz; or the developers of the apps?
08:15 schestowitz; and relatives and friends
08:15 schestowitz; like spamnil's youtube video
08:15 schestowitz; 10 views, that's it
08:15 schestowitz; spamnil
08:15 schestowitz; the guest
08:15 schestowitz; a friend the guest emailed
08:15 schestowitz; spamnil's mom
08:15 DaemonFC; They should release a list so the other 13 million people can "thank them" and spray paint STOP SNITCHIN!
08:15 schestowitz; that's it
08:15 schestowitz; then he buys like 1000 fake "clicks"
08:16 DaemonFC; schestowitz Apparently, my attitude of "You're the cops, go do your own goddamn dirty work." is still pretty standard.

08:17 schestowitz; so now my job is revenge
08:17 schestowitz; "ima kill all em blacks who don't obey my command"
08:17 schestowitz; anger and "activism"
08:17 schestowitz; not a good mix
08:17 DaemonFC; Like it says on the police car in GTA V.
08:17 DaemonFC; Obey and Survive
08:17 schestowitz; and maybe a papa who used to beat you up with a belt
08:18 DaemonFC; schestowitz The public pretty much despises the police.
08:18 DaemonFC; The news media (state-controlled) points out all those back the blue idiots.
08:18 DaemonFC; Most people are not involved in that.
08:18 DaemonFC; The police operate much the same everywhere. They're not good to poor white trash that voted for Trump either.
08:19 DaemonFC; There's a lot of public resentment of the police. It just doesn't make it to the "news" because the state doesn't want to project widespread disapproval of the state.
08:19 schestowitz; <DaemonFC> Obey and Survive
08:19 schestowitz; which implies
08:19 schestowitz; "disobey? we KILL you"
08:19 DaemonFC; Yeah, that's pretty much the flip side of it.
