↺ Undo: Priorities Amidst Shit Talk

I am going to call my new partner K. The ex is G.

We spent a few days together with K at her apartment after she had broke the news to G. The news that we were an item now.

We, K and I, are literally the oldest friends G has in this country. I would even say that we are the most loyal friends she has, even after me breaking up with her. But in this case “loyalty” would have a different definition than what she would find meaningful. We were talking to ourselves about her, thinking about what is best for her even when she herself was making decisions that were not in her own interest. I think the people G thinks as her friends are just people who listen to her story and don’t question it.

↺ Men Should Not Wear Dresses (publ. 2023-08-23)

I noticed a few posts lately in Geminispace, discussing the idea of men wearing dresses, usually with a positive recommendation. So this seems like an appropriate moment to weigh in on the subject.

The fundamental issue here is that, in God’s created order, men and women are distinct genders, and God wants them kept distinct. Therefore, it is wrong for men to wear women’s clothing, and women to wear men’s clothing, because this confuses the distinction between the genders.

Today in the USA, it is easy for women to wear pants and still appear feminine, as opposed to 200 years ago.

↺ Bye I guess.

Well fellow patrons of the midnight pub it seems I might bid an early adieu.

Due to my own fumbling it appears that I’ve forgotten the password to this account and m150 has informed me that there is no password/account recovery method in place at present. I only have my account logged in at present in one random browser on my phone which I will probably remove at some point in time.

Perhaps I will make another account. But life has made me quite busy. Cheerio and all drinks on me tonight.

↺ Degrowth

I’ve seen and read discourse on economic, social and environmental stewardship for many years, but I first came across the term “degrowth” on Gemini in 2021. As best I can tell, the term encapsulates the idea that growth, especially economic growth, is either unfavorable, unsustainable, or doesn’t actually exist at all. It advocates that the answers to many of the modern world’s problems will involve pursuing a kind of personal, societal and natural minimalism: literally “de-growing”.

While reducing our impact on the environment is a concept most people support, and most people recognize that it’s generally good not to spend too much money or dictate how others live their lives, it seems degrowth itself is a contentious topic. I’ve seen lots of support for degrowth as a socio-political quasi-movement, and I’ve seen lots of criticism of the same.
