Et tu, GitHub?

Summary: Today we commence a new series that implicates Microsoft, GitHub, Copilot, and Team Mono

LAST SUMMER we mentioned in passing the story of Preston-Werner, who became extremely rich by selling the loss-making GitHub to Microsoft. For Microsoft, it was all about taking control over the rivals, so even a losing business was worth it to them. The partner of Preston-Werner was abusive to staff; this is a matter of public record.

But what has happened since Microsoft took over GitHub, besides the ICE controversy?

“We’re outlining the series and we shall present things in a tidy, easy-to-digest fashion over the coming weeks.”As we are going to show in the long series (expected to last over a dozen parts) is that GitHub is now controlled by hugely dodgy people, even predators. No sane project would accept sovereignty or supremacy by such people; so far this week Microsoft boosters have been trying to 'soften' an ongoing GitHub scandal. But what we’re going to show involves fraud, sexual abuse, and even theft. We’re outlining the series and we shall present things in a tidy, easy-to-digest fashion over the coming weeks. █
