Some of the new faces representing the Baltic States after the departure of the old guard: Top: Arūnas Želvys (Lithuania) and Sandris Laganovskis (Latvia); Bottom: Margus Viher (Estonia).

“There haven’t been any noticeable problems in Estonia which seems to have coped with the transition quite well.”His efforts in this regard were reported on by Techrights back in March 2017.

March 2017

Unfortunately for the Baltic States, in some cases the change of guard at the national patent offices hasn’t always gone quite as smoothly as one might have hoped for.

There haven’t been any noticeable problems in Estonia which seems to have coped with the transition quite well.

“We will start with Estonia where Margus Viher, who took over from Matti Päts in April 2015, seems to have managed to keep the show on the road without any visible disruption.”However, in the neighbouring states of Latvia and Lithuania there has been difficulty in achieving the same level of uninterrupted continuity.

In the upcoming parts we will look at each of the Baltic States in turn to see how its patent office has fared following the departure of the old guard.

We will start with Estonia where Margus Viher, who took over from Matti Päts in April 2015, seems to have managed to keep the show on the road without any visible disruption. █
