good swimming days in Guernsey! water is clear and calm.
last month i spotted a cuttlefish (30 cm) in about 2 m of water; visibility only about 3 m that day.
this week i was fortunate to observe another cuttlefish in about 1.5 m of water; visibility about 5 m. the cuttlefish was hanging around a clump of seaweed, and after a minute or so moved off. i started to follow but because it was speeding up i stopped following because i didn't want to chase it. live and let live. a few small fish then came out from the seaweed; safer now that the cuttlefish had moved on.
i think that Shags may be nesting on one of the near to shore Rocquaine reefs. i stayed away to avoid spooking them.
there are many Sand eel (not actually eels), Rockfish (Wrasse), and quite a few bass about as i'm seeing these every swim.
i mainly swim at Roquaine but i had an early morning swim at Port Soif this morning; i may swim twice today:-)
visibility much better in Guernsey waters than off Malahide: and far fewer compass jellyfish!
