i am tall but not wide person. to get the length in clothes that i need i often go up a size; this will then be too wide on me:-( i have put up with this for my life so far. one of my motivations for starting to sew (machine) was to have better fitting clothes that i had either modified or made myself.
the process is simple:
sew a new seam inside the garment.
cut off the now excess material.
finish the raw edge.
for my first attempt (under the wing of my sewing class tutor) i used a high contrast thread:
i could see my results clearly
i don't care about mending or amending with a contrast:-)
the result is that i now have a merino top that fits me rather than being too wide; it still has the length that i needed.
