a baddd workmate 536 was left outside on an off with predictable results for the weetabix jaws.
a totally overblown path to renovate the jaws:
- take measurements from new workmate 536 (now with bamboo jaws).
- freecad: design a template.
- check template with a print of the sketch.
- prusa slicer: slice left and right versions.
- prusa printer: print left and right versions.
- make prototype jaws from poor quality ply offcuts.
i used a new drill and circular saw and was learning their setup and use so it took a little longer than i had hoped. all looks a little rough as i could have taken more time to get cleaner cuts and use a router rather than a drill bit for the bolt countersinks.
if i reverse the templates then i can still use them to mark out the holes should i want to make wider jaws.
whilst i consider this as a prototype renovation i expect that i'll be using the workmate 536 for a few tasks to confirm that they work.
todo: cut v into edges for gripping round material.
