the title was to be "beyond outrage" but the word outrage has "beyond" already built in; so "outrage" it is.
i am outraged by the behaviour of RU and BY (RU vassal). i consider the actions of RU starting the war, and the barbaric way that RU and BY conduct their war unacceptable. a great pity that the populations of RU and BY will share the shame of the actions of their rulers and their military, and their own inaction, for generations.
i do not think that i can expect realistic appropriate consequences for RU and BY criminals for murder, rape, torture, theft, destruction, and lies, lies, lies!
clears up the "is there a god?" issue: putin still lives and breathes.
this is me venting - not a considered political text.
- RU and BY personally sanctioned ffe.
- should RU and BY populations kick out the criminals that control them my sanctions still apply until RU and BY have made full restitution for the loss and damage to UA lives and property. i may then consider my sanctions but i expect ffe is ffe.
- accept that anything said by RU or BY representatives is a lie: untrustworthy.
- support UA refugees with useful goods and money.
- record my feelings and express my opinions.
- be more alert and active when governments seek to remove my right to express opinions and live freely (applying golden rule).
- prepare to defend my freedom to live peacefully: alert to practical ideas appropriate to my local society, government, cultural norms.
we either do what we can, or join the other sheep waiting for the knives!
so not much that i can really do, but i don't feel totally helpless (and i do know what that feels like).
after FR blew up a ship and Polynesia i took a similar stance; no french wine or goods for me for over 20 yrs. arbitrary number of years, but it seemed proportionate at the time that i started. i faxed the FR UK embassy at the time (yes faxes were a thing then). not much, but what i could do? interestingly there were political and legal consequences for those involved (not nearly enough imho):
