Tootik Too

After my last post angsting about it, dimkr figured out the issue and fixed it. So now I (and everyone on his server, lol) can follow people from the wider Fediverse!

My Tootik instance

Paste @november@toot.locrian.zone into your Fediverse instance’s search bar if you’d like to follow me. By design, Tootik doesn’t have a web-facing side.

I figured out how to edit the configuration files to remove the rate-limit (a bit too long for my tastes) and increase the character limit:

> cfg/cfg.go: change "200" to "500" on line 25

> front/post.go: comment out lines 63-76

I’d like to be able to properly contribute to the project, but for now that’s about all I’m capable of. (I had to build the result on a remote machine because my personal laptop is just... a mess of several years of randomly-installed crap. My filesystem is like something out of an xkcd comic.)

Most importantly, this means I can check up on Fedi while I’m out at work while using minimal mobile data! My family’s plan throttles after a *very* small amount of data used, or at least it feels that way to me, lol. I had been using Brutaldon up until now, but this works even better.

Brutaldon

And there’s just something cozy about Fedi over Gemini. Plus, the color palette that Lagrange assigned to toot.locrian.zone is probably my favorite palette I’ve seen so far. Thanks, Lagrange!
