Feedback from blogging


I post stuff in lots of places on the Internet. Email replies to things I've blogged are the highest quality feedback I get, by a wide margin. I don't mean that to disparage Mastodon replies at all! It's just that:


Emails tend to come from things I've published long in the past, not my whim of the moment.

The readers usually found it from deliberately searching for it, not from me waving it in front of them.

The format is much more conducive to long conversation.


It doesn't come frequently, but when it does, it's invariably of the form "hey, I had the exact same experience as you did in that thing you wrote 3 years ago. I have some questions, and some ideas!" It makes my day.
