smolZINE in the Flesh

2021-11-17

I am playing around with my pocket printer lately and printing smolZINE on real paper. The extra paper I ordered finally showed up, well some of it did. In a funny but kind of frustrating mishap the office supply place I ordered the paper from sent me one of the packages of paper I ordered and a whole SiPix pocket printer instead of the second package of paper. Not sure what I'm going to do with a spare pocket printer. At least now I have one package of paper sheets and I've been able to print with a couple different fonts. This is exciting to me because one of the fonts prints monospaced and thus I can now do Jone's word searches in smolZINE as they are intended! Then I can use the blank space on the page to play ew0k's Royal Wedding Crasher :-D.

Something I've been thinking about doing just for grins is printing out all of the issues of smolZINE to have a physical copy to put on a shelf or whatever. I would have to figure out how to bind the pages or fold them nicely if printed on roll paper, so I don't know if I will actually end up doing this. Another thing I was thinking about is creating ASCII cover art for each issue so they looked cool and visually distinct. It could be fun if I actually follow through with it. Either way I'm glad I figured out how to print monospace so I can do the word searches.
