I have been drinking 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp of cranberry juice and 1 tbsp of lemon juice in water after meals that I eat at home for about a week or so now. If there have been any positive improvements in my health, they don't stand out so that I can tell, however, there haven't been any negative side affects either that I'm aware of.


I also bought some nutritional yeast a couple of days ago for the B-vitamins that it contains. It came in the form of small flakes. I've been trying to figure out the best way to consume it. I remember when I was young and living at home, we had wheat germ in a small bottle that we added to cereals and oatmeal, etc. I thought it was primarily for the taste although I don't remember using it much... mostly because our parents said "it was good for you" without much explanation.


I added some of the nutritional yeast to a shake I made last night after the gym which was fine, but I don't know if I want to make a shake twice a day just to get the nutritional yeast into my diet. A lot of what I've read shows people using it as a topping over pizza, salads, baked dishes, etc. This morning I put it in a small Ninja blender with just water and ice. Unfortunately, the ice just blended into a "slurpee-like" consistency. It got the job done, but since I'm not eating until dinner today I didn't have anything to put it on. The Mrs. would probably not even drink it.


I think adding it to a smoothie might be the best way for me to go since it pulverizes the flakes. One serving of the yeast with a few vegetables all pulverized together with some water in a small blender.


I guess I'm at the age (or maturity level) where I'm more interested in what I put in my body and realize the absolute real nutritional void in our over-processed foods available to the average consumer. I am 100 percent pro-capitalist, but I also recognize what it has done to help destroy those things that are actually beneficial to us. Unless you grow your own large garden, and even then there's a high change you will be using genetically modified seeds, it's difficult to find foods that are not highly processed.


Foods are so highly processed in the pursuit of keeping costs down while giving the appearance of health, and then efforts are made to try to chemically re-introduce the very things that have been processed out. However, they are rarely, if ever, better than what has been eliminated.
