Who gets to decide when is the appropriate time to get married? (assuming you are of legal age and not already married.) I would assume that most people would say, barring an unlikely 2 week, "whirlwind romance", that it would be up to those individuals who are marrying, and I think that's appropriate.

So, if a spouse dies after an extended illness, and you decide to marry in less than 1 years time, why is it no longer up to those marrying but to everybody else? Who determines the correct amount of time to grieve and then pronounces - you may now marry? I realize that marrying again before some uninvolved party feels is the correct amount of grieving time may go against THEIR sensibilities, but to be blunt, how does this have anything to do with you? Who gives you the right to approve or disapprove of anothers' marriage?

I certainly have my opinions of how I would handle it if it happened to me - but it didn't - and those opinions could change were I in that situation.

Very sad to see people damage the friendship they have with someone because they've determined it's not the appropriate time and refuse to allow that individual happiness.
