An X2.0-class flare has just occurred with a peaking time at 17:52 UTC on February 03. Its source region is the currently most complex region on disc, NOAA active region 3234 (with a magnetic complexity of beta-gamma-delta). This region is currently located close to the limb in the North-West of the visible disc seen from Earth. It is not yet possible to assess an associated coronal mass ejection (CME). However we do not expect the CME to be Earth directed given the location of the source region. The flaring activity over the next 24 hours is expected to remain mostly at low levels with C-class flares, with possible isolated M-class flare or even X-class flare.
