Major geomagnetic storms were registered globally at 06 UT this morning when Kp reached 7 due to a mixed effect of an interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME) and a high speed stream (HSS) arrival. Locally in Belgium only minor storm levels are observed so far. The total magnetic field has reached 18.7 nT with a minimum Bz of -15.9 nT. The solar wind velocity has increased to about 500 km/s. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain elevated throughout the day with more minor storms expected and possible isolated intervals of moderate geomagnetic storms.
