Back into web development?

To be honest, although my daily job is about web development, I had a long time since I worked on my websites. I don't know if I got nostalgic or I wanted something different for a change, but I got myself messing around with Xoops and PHP a lot. I would like to let you know what I am working on lately, that is relevant to our community and I am sure will benefit us all.

A few months ago started working on updating the Amigans.net forum to a newer version, but unfortunately, an updated version of the used module doesn't exist. So I had to find an alternative one and apply it to the website, moving all the current discussions to the new one. For some reason, this work froze but was not lost. So I started again to work on that and I have now a version pretty close to the final one. I plan to do the update next week, after some testing, to make sure it works fine.

The benefits of doing such an update are many. First, we will have a newer version of our beloved forum, that is still in development, that has an upgrade path for future updates and that will work fine with the latest versions of PHP. And the latest one is going to give us a big boost in speed and responsiveness.

Also, I am working on updating my AIOstreams to use the latest and greatest Twitch API, because the current one will die at the end of February, and with that, the twitch python script will die as well. I don't know about you, but I am using that script a lot to watch my beloved amiga streamers on Twitch, especially when I am doing some development.

Unfortunately, the same amount of work is needed to be done at the aiostreams.amiga-projects.net that I created as a frontend for aiostreams.

A lot has changed into the new API and some information is not available anymore, but I hope we will have a similar experience, if not better.

But those are not the only things I am working on. More information in future posts.
