Moral theology, as we learn very early on in this impressive tome, is the means by which we tend to God as our last end; that is, the means by which we conform our actions to the purpose for which God made us. Other than the study of God Himself (dogmatic theology), it is hard to imagine a more important topic.

This text presents well-researched and coherently explained principles for any need in moral theology. In the modern age, we have become accustomed to questions of morality degenerating rapidly into purely emotive assertions, a tack which is completely rejected here. Moral questions are approached as what they are: rational questions that are subject to rational analysis and rational conclusions. It eschews a one-size-fits-all approach, recognizing that moral questions are often complicated; however, it never compromises principles in the name of exclusivity, and totally rejects the relativism which modernity takes for granted.

In other words, it is an excellent overview of Catholic moral theology, and will be useful and informative to anyone who approaches it.
