dwm and dwl

I miss dwm. I mean, yes, the Suckless community seems to have some problems, but the window manager dwm was really nice. I used my own window manager, mcwm, for quite a while but then discovered that I would rather have a tiling window manager. I tried all of them, as you do, and the dwm model resonated with me. There are more window managers using the same model, of course, but dwm was very nimble and fast.

For the last few years I've been running the Sway Wayland compositor. X11? Bah! Good riddance. Sway is tiling but it has a model different from dwm. I especially miss dwm's monocle mode. Sway's fullscreen mode is not quite the same.

I'm keeping up with one of the Wayland alternatives, dwl. I contributed some small changes. I have a small patch still to upstream. It's looking good but there are a few things left to make it a daily driver.

The thing I want most is some way to lock the screen. swaylock seems to miss wlr-input-inhibitor in dwl. Perhaps I'll look into implementing that. Using physlock and locking all the Linux VCs work but after a few times dwl gets really confused and seem to reinitialize the screen again and again making everything flicker and eating a core or so. Can't have that.

Sexual rights

Roe vs Wade seems to be about to be overturned in the US if the leaks from the supreme court are to believed. This will, my news sources say, make abortion illegal in about half the US!? I am, again, surprised at how backwards and conservative the US is.

Incidentally, the biohackers in Four Thieves Vinegar Collective has information on how to make your own abortion pills with misoprostol.

I'm also reminded about that time in highschool when I found a facsimile of an entire year of the Swedish anarchist newspaper Brand (Swedish for "Fire") from 1905. Talking about , but not selling, Contraception was illegal in Sweden in 1905 but there were a lot of ads for "french rubber products" in Brand. Hoho.

Late train

My train is late. Again. Some people were on the tracks and all trains in both direction was ordered to stop for about 40 minutes. Police and the fire department were out looking for people. I hope everyone is alright.
