Greetings, programs!

The fascists are the biggest party in Italy, the ex-nazis the second biggest party in Sweden, a war is raging in Europe, someone is destroying gas pipelines and letting out, at last count, 60 000 tons of methane, the UK economy seems to be breaking down... The list goes on. What a time to be alive. Still, I'm lucky to have a good job and live in a rich, peaceful country. My own problems seems very small in comparison.

The inflation in Sweden is also high. I read that it might have unmade the increase of the last seven years of real wages.

This means I'm probably back at what I earned when I started at Netnod? Considering that our rent has increased this isn't good but not terrible either. At least not yet. Of course, P is the real breadwinner in our family.

The video of our presentation from Open Source Firmware Conference is now up:

The talk in the schedule with embedded video.

Direct Vimeo link.

There's a somewhat meandering intro and a problem with the wrong set of slides in the beginning. The intro to the device itself on a conceptual level begins at ~8 minutes. A technical walkthrough starts at 17 minutes and my demo starts at 22 minutes where I also talk about some of the development stuff. Yes, I'm aware of how awkward my part is. Sorry.

There were problems with the AV stuff at the conference and very little time to test it before giving the talk. So, naturally, when I attached my laptop for the demo I didn't get a mirrored screen and couldn't see anything unless I looked at the projected screen. That made it even more awkward and slow.

Slept for over 10 hours every night all my days off after the crunch + OSFC. One night I slept for almost 13 hours. Of course, my antidepressant Mirtazapine makes me tired, so that might be part of it but at least they help me fall asleep. Considering the alternative, turning into a suicidal wreck, Mirtazapine and sleeping a lot is probably the better alternative.

Spent another weekend in the cottage. Might be the second to last time there before we let workers tear things down in the kitchen. Among other things they will be changing the floor which is really worn down.

This probably means we won't spend New Year's in the cottage. I'm a little worried about that. New Year's Eve in central Malmö is not my idea of fun. It's just huge amounts of uncontrolled fireworks. I'll have to think about what we can do instead if we can't spend the night in the cottage.

Noticed that someone has managed to get accelerated graphics running on the Apple M1 under Linux! Perhaps this means I will have to buy Apple hardware again? This is a huge leap forward. I would very much like to have an ARM laptop again.

It's very cold in the new office. I might have to reconsider using it. I did some searching for other co-working spaces and tried sitting at the Internet foundation's Goto 10 free co-working space for a day. That was nice, but just hot desking, so I can't leave stuff there, so no external screen, no trackball, ... I might sit there anyway from time to time to get some body doubling and the quiet buzz of other people working, and then work at home in the flat most days.

Goto 10 co-working.

I'm still a bit puzzled about why they're doing this instead of continuing handing out money to worthy Internet projects, but I admit it's very convenient to have a co-working space with good Internet access available for free! I offered to help to get native IPv6 to the place but haven't heard back if they want any help yet.

Went to Malmö Opera's "Anastasia" last Wednesday. It was very cute. Quite unlike the animated movie, though. There was no evil Rasputin in this version and no bats. Noticed in the break that Malmö Opera has Moët & Chandon champagne (vegan!) and shared a small bottle with P. Yes, I know, I know. Champagne socialists!

Malmö Opera's web page about "Anastasia".

Went to an art exhibition opening for "I staden växer ett fält" on Friday night at Konsthallen. Quite's SO Samaneh had a work in the exhibition and was, apparently, in Sweden just for the opening! P and I met up with a friend and went there.

Beside's Samaneh Rogani's nice photo work I was taken by Julia Selin's and Sigrid Holmwood's stuff. A lot of the other stuff was... not in my taste.

Perpetual Ultimatum, the piece she had in the exhibition.

The exhibition.

Had a really nice party over Jitsi on Saturday night with the original members of the Area 41 collective. R could only be with us for the first maybe ten minutes, but the rest of us had a several hours long video conference party.

Time passes...

Just came home from yet another trip to Gothenburg. I went on Monday evening and had a long meeting the entire Tuesday. We had some nice food and wine to celebrate the launch of TK1 (yes, including champagne) at Wolfgang's after. Terribly loud restaurant. Not good for my sensitive ears/brain, but at least they managed vegan food and vegan wine.

Now I need to isolate myself for a bit...

Yesterday an old LI and still a dear friend turned 40. I sent her a message. Ten years age difference doesn't seem so much now compared to 28 and 18 when we had our thing.
