dwl

dwl seems to have gotten support for the input-inhibitor protocol on July 3! This means you can now lock the screen with dwl, too! This was the thing I've been waiting for that makes dwl usable as a daily driver. Didn't manage to get screensharing working in dwl, though, and it seems a bit brittle sometimes. I had a few crashes. I'll continue with River for the time being, but I like where this is going.

I also recently came across this dwl status bar:

https://sr.ht/~raphi/somebar/

It's pretty sweet, even though it's C++. Looks a lot like dwm's built-in bar. I whipped up a small shell script to feed it with, as a start.

IRC

Set up a localhost-only IRC server at work, just for the community aspect of it. You have to ssh or mosh in to get at it, but that's fine. So far we're three people and we're mostly nerd sniping each other. Fun!

Phones

Experimented some more with SIP. Tried a few Android clients: Linphone and BareSIP. BareSIP seems to have some negotiation problems sometimes and hasn't got a very clear UI. Linphone works better and also clearly indicates when media is encrypted, for instance.

Hooked one of my anarchosyndicalist Teli Diavox 921 up with an old Grandstream HT486 ATA box here in the cottage. I'm on the EPVPN, which is SIP federated, and with a +49 PTSN dial-in. Ask me about the EPVPN extension and I'll be happy to give it to you.
