Midsummer! Taking off to the cottage in a bit.

Midsummer's eve tomorrow which is a big thing in Sweden. Traditional celebrations include dancing around a giant phallos and getting very drunk. Duckduck for "Midsommarstång" if you don't believe me about the phallos thing.

We're taking it chill, though, and celebrating on our own in the cottage, just me, P, and #3. No midsommarstång. Probably no dancing, even though I might take some dancing steps late in the evening to Depeche, VNV, FLA, Front or something similar.

Picking strawberries in the morning (probably just P & #3 while I'm still asleep), then a lunch with some pickled fake herring (more like pickled shiitake) and new potatoes, beer and akvavit. A favourite akvavit is flavoured with elder which is funny, of course: "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!" Indeed.

Then burritos for dinner! Ha! Yes! Not very traditional, but it kind of is, for us. Strawberries and vegan icecream for desert.

Probably just sitting reading a book and listening to music in the evening.

P has started reading for us in the evenings again. Rick Riordan's "Daughter of the deep". I really like when P reads for us.

Just finishing off "Consider Phlebas" myself. Yes, I know I'm late to the Culture party. Really not that into it, yet.

Also on the last few pages of "The Ministry for the Future. Had to pause that one several times because... well, it's really close to what we have now with a climate catastrophe, you know, and many, many people die in a very likely scenario. Didn't really like how Robinson wrote this one, either. Sometimes I want to go all Monty Python on him and shout "Get on with it!" I really liked "Aurora", though.

Next up is #4 in the The Expanse series.

Meeting some good friends I don't see that often on Saturday. Let's see if we can find an open pub...

Yesterday I went with #3 to try out archery at a local archery club. They thought it was really fun and want to do it again. I have friends whose entire family practise archery, but they're not very close to us geographically. I might get tips about equipment, I suppose.

It was a bit stressful to get to the archery club. I had to bring my special phone with the Google account and had to install no less than two apps to be able to get there and to be able to pay at the club. I was a bit worried the whole time and I'm not very good at going by bus... I sometimes get very nervous about pushing the button to get off. Sometimes I go past the stop I was supposed to be getting off at just because of the sheer terror or pressing that fucking button. We managed to get there in time. Had to walk a bit to get back home, though, since some bus stops were closed.

Watched DFRI's electronic identity seminar (in Swedish) at:

Seemed very introduction level, but I guess that was kind of the point, to get more people involved in getting an open spec e-ID for Sweden going. I wonder if I can help anything at all or if I would just drag them down?

Really enjoyed the talented Melissa Hunter's "Adult Wednesday Addams":
