Killing Time is an expertly crafted album that could be called hardcore punk, though at the time it came out it was probably regarded as "emo". That would likely be based on the coherent delivery of lyrics about personal relationships and heartbreak, though in this case that stands to only enhance the experience. The best thing about this album, and what makes it so great though, is the deft use of different time signatures and feels, as well as the songs that contain actual dynamics and surprises. Delivered with feeling and polish, Killing Time is one of the best albums in the universe.
