I didn't really get active in Twitter. I didn't really do any microblogging until Mastodon came along, in fact, if you look at

my twitter

you'll see it's just a mirror of

my masto

...


Anyway, all of this is to say that i wasn't aware that retweets *weren't* baked into twitter from the beginning, and i actually agree with left_adjoint that they're probably a bad idea. masto has the 'boost', which is basically the fedi version of the 'retweet', and there have been many times when i wanted to boost someone's toot but *also* comment on the toot itself, which you can't do. it's frustrating!!]


it'd be nice if there were a fedi client that would auto-quote boosts instead of just boosting them, but until then i'm going to try quote-boosting manually from now on.
