Types of person πŸ€ πŸŽ“πŸ”§πŸ’ΌπŸŽ¨πŸ•΅οΈπŸ‘·

I was poking in the history of lettuce's gemlog where they said...

More gemlogs by musicians, artists, jugglers, quilters, teachers, cooks, parents, carpenters, cyclists, storytellers, et. cetera.

I agree, though I don't mind the tech-heavy stuff. But I wondered how I fit into those categories. In a sense, not at all. They're not my occupation. But who is adequately described by a single word?

Musician

Not me at all. I played an instrument very badly as a child, but that's all.

Artist

Not much me. I do like photography, but I'm not claiming artistry. I wrote a symmetrical drawing thing that can make some nice images which entertains me. So I like making images, but I'm just playing.

Snowflake, (symmetrical drawing thing, web version - mouse only, not touch screen)

Juggler

Now we're getting warmer. I learned a 3-ball cascade, and I've found that like riding a bike, I don't forget how to do it. I've tried teaching others, but only had one real success. The hard part for learners is to stop worrying about the catches and concentrate on the throws. If you throw right, catching is easy. Oddly, I have learned three clubs, then forgotten it several times over.

Quilter

Not me. I can sew enough to make basic repairs. That's all.

Teacher

Warm-ish. I do some stuff with kids, and I enjoy it. But I couldn't do it full time.

Cook

I like cooking, but in inverse proportion to how necessary it is. Cooking for fun. And it frustrates me that you can spend an hour making it and five minutes eating it.

Parent

This was me. I had kids. But they grew up.

Carpenter

I can make things out of wood thanks to my school woodwork teacher. But I rarely do. Imagine making your own dining table. If you're like me, it would be wobbly and a bit off square. And you'd wish you'd bought one instead.

Cyclist

I cycle to the station to commute, but only when there isn't a pandemic. Sometimes I do it for fun. Serious cyclists have funny clothes and those clip-in shoes that you can't walk in. I cycle in my regular clothes.

Storyteller

Quite warm again here. I like anecdotes. I try to keep that in check because I think it often pleases me more than the listener. But I refer you to...

The story section of my capsule

Thanks, lettuce. I enjoyed that.
