Today is solstice. Winter solstice for the northern hemisphere of the planet, summer solstice for the southern hemisphere. Most probably it has been like this for the last few 100 thousand years, even when noone was noticing.

Incidently a very close conjunction of planets Jupiter and Saturn, as they are called in some of this planets cultures, has been taken place, too.
