New Job

For the last month or two, I've been preparing for a job in Austin, Texas. This job is quite an exciting opportunity, and I can't wait to start. I did write a now nonexistent post about preparing to move, but it is not worth recreating. See the previous post if you are wondering how it disappeared.

Anyway, I have been quite busy since last Sunday. I started moving from Casper, Wyoming to Austin early that day. It took three days of driving to complete the trip, but that would have been reduced to just two if U-Haul stores didn't close at 18:00. This meant that I could not stay at my apartment complex overnight due to their policy on trailers. Having spent the following days unpacking some of my things, it is nice to have some time to relax.

As my first day at work gets closer, I am pleased to note just how friendly the senior staff are in my department. This department is still growing, and I have had video calls with many people I will work with/under. Each experience has been very reassuring.

Many people I know discovered that relocating for a job can be quite a stressful and unpleasant experience. While I can attest to that, this really has been something to look forward to. I have the opportunity of a lifetime with this job, and it is the sort of thing I had dreamed of throughout college. It will be interesting to see how my opinion of this job changes over time, but I am optimistic I will be pleased with the outcome.
