Selfhosting Gemini?

This is kind of a follow-up question to the nice explainer by masqq

What do people recommend for setting up one's own domain name and making Gemini content available via

gemini://my.domain.name/log/stuff.gmi

and not

gemini://my.domain.name:98765/log/stuff.gmi

This bit I'm missing, probably since I don't own a virtual server somewhere.

As additional notes …

As a user of uberspace.de I would love to be able to configure Gemini (and Gopher) like they offer for Web via one's own domain names :)

Also: wondering about "JBanana in Gemini space" on the shared postcard box "Public access Linux system."
