2020-11-13 Raised by Wolves (HBO)

I watched Episode 1 of Raised by Wolves with my wife yesterday. We were both disappointed. She was looking for something werewolf related. I was looking for a SciFi allegorical take on the current zeitgeist. I should be more careful what I wish for. It turned out to be another impossibly well done video game style work of woke propaganda. A reworking of the Noah's Ark story in space with woke heroes. The protagonist was an android identifying as an young Irish atheist female minus sex organs. Both she and her sensitive black masculine partner were devoted to nurturing one of the last surviving humans on a new planet they intended to colonize and Terra form. The bad guys were religious white supremacist colonizers dressed up like Crusaders. They were summoned for help, but soon sought to destroy the androids to claim the human child for themselves. The protagonist destroys the invaders by yelling at them with such intensity, their faces explode. I watched this show on the recommendation of David French, an explicitly Christian reporter and legal beagle at Jonah Goldberg's year old Dispatch news site. I guess I should have taken his affinity for Star Wars lore as a signal I might not share his admiration of this show either. I find Woke ideology so tedious, no amount of technical excellence can redeem the works it informs.
