I wrapped up the Heart GameDev course, it was fantastic. I took a bunch of extra time to work on refactoring the code the instructor presented there, and explored a few different ideas, including composition. I also ultimately wound up abandoning any efforts around writing gdscript in vim and/or vscode with vim keybindings. The IDE that Godot packages is pretty integral to the whole experience, I think - just giving up on vim keybindings and jumping into their built-in editor has reduced any remaining friction.
I started reading "How to Make a Video Game All By Yourself" yesterday - it seems pretty great, and the art is amazing.
I'm also playing around a bit with my PocketSprite, working on setting up a toolchain for exploring this embedded platform.
