About me

I was interested in computers and electronics since early age. I grew up knowing that in the future I will work with computers. Long story short, that indeed, has happened. During my professional journey I've been a systems engineer, programmer, instructor, infrastructure architect... I also contributed to the NetBSD project in the past. These days I lead a team of very capable individuals as CIO at a start-up company.

About my approach to computing

The first computer I owned (circa 1993) was a relatively boring PC 386 clone. I've upgraded it with various peripherals, eventually changing motherboard etc. Thanks to all the upgrades, it was my daily driver till early 2000s.

In the late 90s, my discovery of free software and Linux has shaped my whole future approach to computing. I've became fascinated with GNU Project, BSDs and the hacker culture built around them.

I consider myself a person who does not have role models. However, I have deep respect for the people who built the foundations of software and computing culture we have today - Dennis Ritchie, Ken Thompson, Brian Kernighan, Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds, many others who worked on UNIX and free software. Who knows in what kind dystopia would we live today, if it weren't for them?

Despite PC being my first computer, I've also been fascinated by the computers from the 80s and early 90s. I still like to mess around with Amiga, Atari, ZX Spectrum, mainly to watch demoscene productions. A few years ago I have also co-designed hardware expansions for retro computers, including memory expansion for Amiga 600/1200 and external floppy disk drive for all Amigas.

I self-host this capsule on Rocky Linux, on a Raspberry Pi 4.
