im too baby to write this in station but i've been thinking about this through my few months here and really just need to say: all of you very technical people in gemini please lower your expectations for what someone's baseline tech knowledge is!!! lmao.

the layman (me) is NOT gonna know you need to use the command line to set up a "really easy" gemini server if none of the guides even whisper of it. as someone who never used the command line it was hella frustrating to find this out through some roundabout way LOL. throughout the process i spent hours trying to figure out what the heck i needed to do because i was just *expected* to know how to do something. needless to say i did not figure out how to set a server up in the end because it was like playing wack-a-mole trying to find the solution to what was wrong that i gave up :(

i recently joined a tilde server because it seemed inviting to those who are experimenting with new technologies and i ran into that same issue - had no idea how to.. yknow... actually connect to it and was almost too embarrassed to ask. i finally DID figure it out from another tilde server guide (*hank hill voice* do i look like i know what shell access is?) and it was super helpful because it actually outlined things step by step haha. please make more guides like that :)

imo the idea that gemini doesn't have a high barrier of entry is a joke lmao (like, maybe if you have a compsci background...) w/o a host i wouldn't have been able to make this capsule! and i really like the idea of gemini and the vibe it has - but take it from me, it is not *that* technically easy.. <3
