Early last summer, we levelled our small garden to make room for a shed. The new lawn was looking a little bare, so we decided to brighten it with a few pots from the garden centre.
I couldn't resist picking up a few aromatic herbs as I wafted past, and for the first time, I bought four young tomato plants to join them (Shirley, Garden Perl, Gardener's Delight, and Honeycomb - our favourite of the four). We didn't really know what we were doing, but sat by the kitchen door, they produced a small crop of tomatoes in late summer and we got to eat our first veg from the garden.
This year, I'm feeling ambitious. I'm going to try growing from seed. I've ordered several varieties of courgette and tomato to try and the seed packets have now arrived. All I can do is wait (im)patiently until I can begin to sow.
