It's been a long time (over two months) since my last post here. There were good reasons that I was away for that long, which I will discuss here, but I also want to look forward what interesting projects I can work on next now that I have more time.
In real live, I was busy studying. It definitely was not as busy as the last semesters, but I still had important things to do. This is already everything I want to say about that topic.
Guess what? I have started another new project. This time bringing Signal to the PinePhone for real. I have been hard at work on Flare, a project that already has some pre-releases and also gained some following, even though there are still many things to do.
I have started a Zettelkasten (or something like that. Not sure that I am doing it right). I already have 232 zettel, most of them probably about one lecture this semester. I may do another post on my Zettelkasten separately as I find it an interesting topic.
I also have started looking into RSS and subscribing to some favorite web-blogs. I am definitely interested in expanding more as time comes, but I cannot really find interesting reads out there.
Like previously discussed, there are still many things where Flare could be improved. Many of these will need upstream work, so I will also try to implement something there. I am also sure that there are still bugs left to be squashed, but I will be trying to do a 1.0.0-release in the next few months.
Another project of mine, signal-notify, will also need some attention. There have been interesting discussions about features that are wanted, e.g. waking up from sleep, vibration feedback or integrating other messengers like Matrix and Telegram. But before I can do any of these things, I will need to refactor it a lot, including support for a nice configuration file.
There has been a long break on improving Tubefeeder, my YouTube/Lbry/Peertube client for the PinePhone. I want to finally start working on it again by including support for settings inside the application and making other things more accessible. I have already started porting the build system (previously Cargo) to meson as this will hopefully make many things like settings easier.
Another project of mine (the last for this post, I promise) is DieBahn, a GTK-frontend for the Deutsche Bahn, that I also have been neglecting for a while. I only want to implement one small feature there, the ability to auto-delete journeys when they have already passed their arrival time. But maybe some more features will pop into my head.
I also want to continue to write posts here, not only read them. As previously stated, I want to make a post about my Zettelkasten, but I also have some more ideas in my head, e.g. looking back to over half a year of mostly not using JavaScript or maybe some development logs for above mentioned projects.
I also have some interesting plans on switching from NextCloud to Syncthing. I am not yet sure that I will do that in the next few months, I may also push those plans back for a few months.
There will probably also be some things I want to do in real live, e.g. going to cinemas with friends. But I currently do not have any plans for that, these will probably be made in the short-term. I will also have to work, but will not allow it to break any of the plans on the things I love to do.
As you see, I was busy the last few months. But I will also have many things to do in the following months. I am sure I will have a great time.
