I've started a new job recently and things have been a lot busier, which is reflected in my neglection of this capsule this year.
I hope to fix that through a clunky assemblage of a note-taking app on my phone ('Personal Log' via F-Droid [1], folder sychronization software using SyncThing [2], and some poorly written bash scripts [as yet unciteable]
Hopefully once I have that working there will be an uptick in my post frequency here. This will almost certainly be coupled with a downtick in post quality, but that's how it goes.
I am also in an odd situation of having three laptops, all of which I use to more or less the same degree. I would rather have just the one so I am trying to harmonise things into one device. I am also not entirely sure which of the three will be the best to settle on as my main device. The newest is the most powerful and the most portable but it has an incredibly annoying keyboard layout: the home, end, page up, and page down keys are merged into the Fn keys. There's a BIOS option as to which row is tied to the 'Fn' button on the keyboard but I would rather they were separate keys like in almost every other keyboard. I can't decide which option is more trouble: Would I rather have to do Fn-F11 for 'Home' or Fn-SoundUp for F5? Or would I rather have a more useable keyboard on a less powerful laptop? Bah!
Also I could have a rant about high DPI screens being a complete waste of resources yet unavoidable on any modern device. But I won't. It would go in the same basket as that bloody annoying mirror-finish which you get on every screen these days. Double-bah!

I see the headline "Wales bans smoking at hospitals, schools and playgrounds" and think 'wow, really, what took so long??' then in the article it says "Wales has become the first of the UK nations to make it illegal to smoke on hospital and school grounds, public playgrounds and other outdoor day care and childminding settings."
