Bubble commit 6d7b8eaf

Multiple people have requested an option to disable the Likes mechanism on Bubble. A site-wide configuration option and a per-user setting for this are coming in v3.0.

I think this is a really good setting to have, and I will probably disable the likes myself. But also, this opened my eyes to the awesome git frontend you have written for gemini. Great stuff!

@johan Thanks!

Thank you! That feature was my single source of apprehension before joining.

👤 benk · 2023-05-28 at 14:22:

Is there a setting you for even more likes

🕹️ skyjake [OP...] · 2023-05-28 at 14:59:

@benk Actually there might be. 🙂 It has been requested to add likes/reactions on individual comments.

👤 benk · 2023-05-28 at 15:04:

@skyjake wooooooo (actually, that might be too many likes)

👤 benk · 2023-05-28 at 15:04:

dislike button when

🦋 teal · 2023-05-28 at 17:01:

ooh, reactions would be cool. Allow any unicode reaction and stick a count next to it? That would suit my future use of bubble very well.

👤 benk · 2023-05-28 at 17:32:

@teal heck yeah reactions would be awesome

👤 emilis · 2023-05-28 at 19:59:

How about hugs instead of likes? Similar to Mastodon stars/favorites, only the author would see the hug.

@emilis I've been thinking about that, yes. Not specifically "hugs", but some way of communicating private appreciation

— like @Morgan suggested.

Thanks @skyjake ... I like the idea, obviously ;) ... I'm thinking of adding something more from that post to my own capsule, a site-wide indicator of the recent interaction rate, so that something changes when you give feedback but it's ephemeral and not tied to anything. It occurs to me as I write this that I could implement it cheaply by grepping the logs, maybe I'll add it today.

🦋 teal · 2023-05-29 at 13:58:

@Morgan can you expand on that a bit? Perhaps an example or two?

☕️ Morgan · 2023-05-29 at 17:58:

@teal check clanmorgan.org to see what I mean, I just set something up; it's at the end of each gemlog entry and currently looks like this:

> So far today, 2023-05-29, feedback has been received 144 times. Of these, 114 were likely from bots, and 30 might have been from real people. Thank you, maybe-real people!
