I'm currently playing pokemon crystal (3ds virtual console), my goal is to get all the following pokemon: lapras (done), suicune, entei, raikou, lugia, ho-oh, celebi. I'm stuck with the elite four at the moment, my current party being kadabra (50), sneasel (35), growlithe (32), rhydon (36), lapras (34) and gloom (35). kadabra is doing the heavy work, by leveling up until fainting and then giving the other party members a bit of exp (with share exp). I guess I don't have another choice but to repeat until I get the necessary level to beat the elite four, right? then going to kanto and getting the above pokemon, using the pokemover to get to pokemon home...

If you don't want to grind and you have some cash to burn, you could stock up on Revives and Full Restores at the Indigo Plateau Pokémart. That should keep your Kadabra alive long enough to make it through. If you're okay with grinding, you could make just your Kadabra a level 60 or 70 tank: enough to let another Pokémon come into the battle first and get some more experience.

I ask'd my Pokepal and he said this: ,,could just sweep with that Kadabra, no need for anything else. You can buy elemental punch TMs in the Goldenrod mart, and those are special in gen 2, so they're great on Kadabra. Ice Punch, Thunderpunch and Fire Punch cover everything. Can just heal in between battles and it's fine."

On PKMN Crystal, I just use a patched ROM with all the beats being available without trading. Also, there's Polished Crystal which enhances and extends the game a lot.

A quick update: I managed to get suicune, celebi, and lugia. I gave up on the other beasts because it would take such a long time for them to spawn even following YouTube guides. They’re safely now in Pokémon Sword.

Now I’m playing Omega Ruby trying to get Deoxys (just started).
