Yeah, I remember the magic. My posts to "alt.rec.games-programming" (I think it was) getting interested, interesting and intelligent responses. Communicating with people on the other side of the world for the first time. Everybody filled with curiousity, excitement, ideas.
The world has gotten much smaller since then, and the wonder has disappeared. Some of the changes were great--I'm not complaining, on the whole, happy to take the good with the bad--but the internet has really not delivered on that particular dream.
Yet. We're not done, I hope.
