Domiply seems like a nice idea. I’m thinking of trying it out. What do you think?

Having the site contents be Git-backed is definitely a good choice, since you automatically get de facto backups, version control, and there is no lock-in because you can clone the repository freely.
However, insofar as reducing technical barriers is concerned, I don't think Domiply makes a huge effect. If you already own a domain and can manage DNS records, the rest of the hurdles seem pretty low IMHO. I suppose those could be delegated to some tech admin person or, say, a suitably skilled relative. After the initial setup, updating the site via Git commits seems manageable even if you know nothing about internet infrastructure.
I say thumbs up for reducing reliance on huge corporations.
