Alright, I need some help getting my Clie up and running. I'm on Zorin (Ubuntu-based). I've got JPilot set up. The main thing I am trying to figure out how to do right now is how to sync my calendar up with the Clie. I use Proton and it only exports .ical (which I think google is the same these days). JPilot doesn't seem to want that. What are my options?

@lori I don't think I ever found a good way to go from an ical to the palm. There is this tool for exporting the palm datebook to an ical file. So if you wanted to have the PDA be the canonical source and push to other places from there it could work. https://hepunx.rl.ac.uk/~adye/software/palm/palm2ical/

@kelbot one of the many tabs I opened today trying to find an answer talked about being able to use csv files, but said something about them not being a standard csv calendar file...maybe if I could figure out what those looked like I could convert to csv then convert that csv to whatever Palm wants...will have to investigate further. I found a tool that supposedly converts ical to a palm friendly format but couldn't for the life of me get it to build right.

What you need is a «conduit» which is a piece of software that tells JPilot how to sync between the two. You need to know the format for the calendar databases in the Palm and the format you want to use for syncing. And translate.

@ResetReboot do you have any good resources for this? I saw mentions of conduits with pilot-link but I never really found a list of what's available or where to get more, and with search engines being what they are these days I kept going in circles not finding the info I needed.

@lori I'm afraid that what you can find in pilot-link is all you can find to this. J-Pilot itself is a bit stagnant and pilot-link almost disappears overnight once. At the pilot-link site there should be some examples and explanations of a conduit (or was it at the J-Pilot webpage, I'd check that out).

Unfortunately there's not much done, except the example from J-Pilot to sync the Expenses database. Maybe if the resurrection of PDAs keeps going up, we could get some hands on pilot-link and J-Pilot, revamp them, get conduits for several programs and then be able to sync like in the good old times.
