Email on the Palm

So, one of the things that back in the day caught my attention with Palms was the possibility to sync your email to the device, reply the emails on the go, get back to your computer, sync, and get those emails sent.

So when I got my current Palm... I thought «Hey, I could try it out!» only to find there's no actual working way to do it nowadays. So I thought I could try my hand at getting something working. But guess what? I looked at my inbox. All I get is «New product released», notifications about things in diverse accounts and the odd newsletter.

And then sighed, noticing there's no point nowadays and email isn't the way of communication it used to be.

Do any of you know any fun thing to do with the Mail app that is not receiving/sending emails? I'm open to crazy ideas here.

I still use email, though not nearly as much as I used to or I'd like. I'm not using it on the PDA right now but I do get an occasional email from family or readers of smolZINE. I do remember seeing a project someone was working on to use Palm email as a way to post to the fediverse but I can't find it again at the moment.

I've been thinking lately about how it'd be a fun experiment to start an email chain as a form of social media, like having email chains per topic and having everyone just reply to the thread like it's a forum. This isn't related to my Palm experiments but it's something I've thought would be fun to try, and probably a nightmare, but fun to try.

I'm not sure if this is the exact project I remember seeing or not. But this could be neat to try.
