I used to love distro-hopping, but for the last couple of years I've been so satisfied with Arch that I haven't been trying anything else.

This morning one of my PCs needed a new OS because of power issues. I was shopping around, tried NixOS since people have been talking about it lately. I even booted into Manjaro since it's basically Arch anyway. But then I finally installed plain old Arch and it's just what I want. ๐Ÿคท

It's nice to find something I'm happy with, but I did enjoy troubleshooting new distros and learning in the process!

I used Arch for a number of years and it really is a great system. I still have it on my carry around laptop in fact. Everything else is now switched over to Void or FreeBSD, but I haven't felt the need to switch this one just yet.

I feel this. I used to enjoy trying different distros as well, but eventually settled on Arch + Windows on my personal laptop. It's nice to have a setup that's simple enough that I know what everything is, and that I'm comfortable enough with that I don't have to ever mess with.

I don't think I've messed with major config stuff in three years or so, and things typically work fine with the occasional package update.

I'm glad you've also found something that suits you!

I seem to be stuck with XUbuntu (ubuntu with XFCE instead of Gnome). Lately I go right into DWM. Occasionally I get an urge to switch to Arch or Void or even FreeBSD, as it would be much more appropriate, but it's just so easy to stay with what I know -- and every time I start reading about installing those and dealing with the issues I ask myself why I want more trouble in my life...

XFCE is a nice fast desktop. I miss using it.

once I hit Mint I knew I was satisfied. been my daily driver on all PCs for years now. no fuss no muss just does what I want. don't feel the need to upgrade is versions either. if its supported till 2025, I'll do it then.

I'm on Debian but also with XFCE. Eventually you want to settle down with something stable that doesn't surprise you on every release. I would appreciate a real rolling release system though.
