I don't remember why but I started browsing the filmography of the actor Stellan Skarsgård and came across a movie that looked interesting — Kongen av Bastøy, also known as King of Devil's Island. I'm not sure if the word "Bastøy" means Devil in Norwegian but considering the flashy English title that sounds apt for marketing, I'd guess it doesn't.

This movie depicts a fictional account of the real life rebellion that happened in Bastøy Reform School in 1915. The boys in the "reform school" are treated about what you'd expect from a prison for delinquents but as expected, the weak are exploited by those in power. The consequence of this exploitation is a rebellion.

The movie has the typical Scandinavian atmosphere that you'd expect and the lead actors did a nice job. There's nothing to write home about for this movie but there's nothing to dislike either.

I hereby rate this movie a 4 out of 5.
